Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, health/environmental science, statistics, or related field.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to apply rules consistently.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Outstanding time-management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Experience or strong interest in data analysis, public health, occupational safety, epidemiology, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint).
- Willingness and ability to learn new software and technical skills as required.
Responsibilities
- Review workplace injury, illness, and fatality records and apply standardized case-classification codes using the BLS Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS).
- Exercise thoughtful, independent judgment to accurately classify complex or ambiguous cases while maintaining speed and consistency.
- Draft brief, clear incident narratives that summarize the circumstances of each case in plain, concise language.
- Manage multiple work queues and deadlines while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
- Collaborate regularly with team members and senior analysts for guidance, quality checks, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and evolving analytical practices over time.
