Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited program; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably with experience in the energy industry.
  • Strong expertise in failure analysis, forensic engineering methodologies, and mechanical design principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, including technical writing and presentations.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in teams and manage multiple projects.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (typically up to 25%).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct forensic mechanical engineering investigations related to equipment failures and incidents in the energy sector, including oil, gas, and power generation.
  • Perform detailed engineering analyses, including failure analysis, material assessments, and design evaluations.
  • Prepare clear, thorough technical reports summarizing analyses, findings, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and other Rimkus experts to deliver high-quality consulting services.
  • Provide expert opinions and testify in depositions and trials as needed.
  • Mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion and client satisfaction.
