Requirements
- High School graduate, GED, or HSED.
- 3 years of professional fee coding experience in a healthcare position.
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Working knowledge of CCI edits, healthcare insurance guidelines, and regulatory guidance.
- Prior use of an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Current CPC, CCS-P, CCS, or RHIT certification.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with ancillary or specialty departments to code, review, and release charges.
- Ensure correct coding, billing compliance, and complete charge capture.
- Collaborate with providers and departmental staff on coding and charge capture topics.
- Assign or verify CPT, ICD-10 CM coding and modifiers based on documentation.
- Act as a subject matter expert in Pediatric Urology and ENT specialties.
- Cover multiple surgical or medical specialties for abstraction and coding.
