Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in benefits administration or a related field
- Experience leading annual Open Enrollment and benefits implementation/change projects
- Demonstrated experience managing benefits vendors/brokers, including service performance and escalations
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. benefits compliance requirements (e.g., ERISA, IRS Code Section 125, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA) and leave-related coordination (e.g., FMLA/ADA)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and market benchmarking with the ability to analyze and research problems in order to develop a course of action
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office is required including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook - advanced Excel Skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and outside the organization
- Strong detail-orientation, collaboration and project management skills
- Discretion and sensitivity to confidential information is required
- Experience supporting annual renewals and/or RFPs, including proposal analysis and plan recommendations
- Experience with self-funded plans and/or claims and utilization reporting (as applicable)
- Experience developing benefits communications (e.g., open enrollment materials, intranet content, required notices)
- Experience with UKG, Fidelity, and/or third-party benefits administration platforms
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CEBS, PHR, SPHR)
Responsibilities
- Administer all company benefit programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leaves of absence, wellness initiatives, and voluntary benefits, aligning programs to the total rewards strategy, business needs, and colleague experience.
- Partner with HR, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and business leaders to assess needs, develop recommendations, and deliver benefits initiatives.
- Manage broker and vendor relationships (e.g., carriers, administrators, LOA, wellness), including service-level expectations, escalations, performance reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Use data (enrollment, utilization, claims trends where applicable, and colleague feedback) and market benchmarking to evaluate offerings and inform program enhancements.
- Oversee day-to-day administration across benefit programs, including eligibility governance, HRIS/vendor feeds, colleague inquiries and escalations, invoicing, reconciliations, and audit controls.
- Manage end-to-end leave processes (e.g., FMLA, ADA accommodations, paid family/medical leave, and company leaves), partnering with the broader HR team and managers along with payroll and vendors to ensure timely case management, accurate pay/benefits continuation, compliant documentation, and clear colleague communication.
- Lead annual Open Enrollment and mid-year changes, including project planning, testing, colleague support, and coordination with HRIS, payroll, and vendor partners.
- Develop and maintain clear benefits communications (guides, intranet content, and required notices as applicable) to support colleague understanding and informed decision-making.
- Support annual renewals and periodic RFPs by gathering requirements, analyzing proposals, recommending plan changes, and partnering with Finance and vendors to manage cost and value.
- Maintain compliance with applicable benefits requirements (federal, state, and local), partnering with Legal and vendors on reporting, audits, documentation, and process controls.
