Requirements

  • Professional experience in the gaming industry, with a focus on real-time VFX creation and experience contributing to shipped or completed game projects.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates VFX creation for games.
  • Expertise in both real-time and baked simulations.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of VFX pipelines and tools—including SideFX Houdini.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine 5, Niagara, and interrelated systems.
  • Solid understanding of PBR concepts, real-time rendering techniques, shaders, and lighting.
  • Experience with performance and optimization procedures for real-time VFX.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to overcome complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to manage tasks, collaborate on shared goals, and contribute to team knowledge-sharing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality, real-time visual effects across all effects domains.
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines to support gameplay, cinematics, and environments with high-quality VFX.
  • Partner with peers to innovate and research new workflows, tools, and techniques to push the boundaries of real-time VFX.
  • Deliver VFX work that is performant and within technical budgets.
  • Populate environments with visually engaging and immersive VFX.
  • Help foster a culture of creativity, trust, and technical excellence.
  • Work with department leads and production to estimate and plan work.
