Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in payroll implementation, payroll operations, or HCM system configuration (multi-state payroll strongly preferred)
- Deep understanding of payroll systems setup, configuration, reporting, and workflow design
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax processes, including multi-state tax compliance and remittance rules
- Experience working with HR/payroll platforms and integrated HCM solutions
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort with data analysis tools
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical payroll concepts for clients of varying expertise
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client implementations simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and urgency in execution
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Positive, adaptable, and service-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end payroll implementation and client onboarding while ensuring accurate system configuration and a smooth transition to ongoing services.
- Serve as the primary implementation contact from sales handoff through client services transition, ensuring alignment on scope and expectations
- Lead discovery and needs analysis sessions to capture payroll, HR, timekeeping, and compliance requirements
- Configure payroll systems, reporting structures, and related modules (HR, ACA, benefits, timekeeping) based on client specifications
- Execute and validate first payroll runs to ensure accuracy and continuity from legacy systems
- Train clients on system usage, workflows, and best practices for payroll processing and compliance
- Manage data migration from prior providers, ensuring completeness and correctness for go-live readiness
- Develop and maintain documentation, templates, and training materials to support scalable onboarding processes
- Provide second-tier troubleshooting support and manage resolution of payroll system issues and service cases
- Support platform transitions, system upgrades, and ongoing process improvements across client implementations
