Requirements
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Ownership (or co-ownership) of month-end close at a venture-backed or high-growth company
- Multi-entity experience
- Understanding of intercompany mechanics and shared service allocations
- Familiarity with entity-level compliance (annual reports, franchise taxes, property tax, 1099s, state registrations)
- Participation in at least one financial statement audit cycle from the company side
- Strong working knowledge of a modern accounting stack
- Experience with Ramp or a peer spend management tool
- Experience with a real ERP (Rillet, NetSuite, Sage Intacq)
- Solid spreadsheet skills
- Strong judgment on accuracy vs. speed
- Ability to get the details right and improve underlying processes
- Willingness to challenge things that aren’t working and help fix them, professionally
- Comfort operating in a dynamic, high-growth environment with evolving priorities
- Strong interest in leveraging technology and AI day to day
Responsibilities
- Partner on the monthly close process across multiple entities
- Prepare and review balance sheets and P&Ls, and flag discrepancies
- Investigate variances and resolve reconciling items, especially in cash and intercompany
- Help build and maintain intercompany processes across entities
- Track and reconcile intercompany balances
- Support allocation of shared expenses in a consistent, defensible way
- Own and improve expense coding workflows (Ramp and related tools) and fix inefficiencies
- Think about how to automate or streamline workflows
- Support implementation of better systems and processes over time
- Own the rhythm of entity compliance across all entities (annual reports, franchise taxes, property tax, 1099s, state registrations)
- Handle one-off entity administration items (new state registrations, entity formations or dissolutions, beneficial ownership filings, supporting documentation)
- Partner with legal and tax when filings require outside input
- Partner with the Controller on audit preparation and PBC, including pulling schedules and responding to auditor requests
- Work with tax and audit partners to make sure deliverables are accurate and timely
- Hold external partners accountable – review their work, catch issues, and push for quality and timeliness
