Requirements
- Advanced life sciences degree: MD, PhD, or PharmD
- Experience within a medical communications agency (at least 2-3 years)
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
- Extensive medical writing experience
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team setting
- Superior time management skills to work effectively within demanding timelines
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with clients and thought leaders in a variety of therapeutic areas
- Proficiency in Word®
- Proficiency in PowerPoint®
- Proficiency in Excel®
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat®
- Proficiency in reference-management software (EndNote®)
Responsibilities
- Ensure content developed is evidence-based, high quality, and meets client objectives
- Act as scientific team lead, providing scientific and medical expertise and strategies
- Partner effectively with Strategic Account Directors to translate client objectives into programs
- Develop content and serve as primary quality-control contact
- Manage input of Key Opinion Leaders, authors, and faculty
- Write, review, and provide feedback/direction to content development team members
- Analyze, interpret, and utilize complex medical documents
- Lead and/or support discussions of content directly with authors and clients
- Manage and mentor Medical Writers
- Maintain current knowledge of therapeutic areas and competitor products
- Attend medical conferences and assess market opportunities
- Provide scientific and strategic background to Writers, Editors, and staff
- Identify and help develop new clients
- Manage timelines and expectations throughout content development process
- Oversee and manage the regulatory review process for all projects
- Ensure consistency and leverage learnings in regulatory review processes
- Attend and help design advisory board meetings
- Assist with strategic planning for business development
- Participate in new business development presentations and pitches
- Assist in developing and defining content development processes and procedures
- Assist in tracking team assignments, sharing resources, and identifying gaps
- Assist in developing and providing routine training and development for Writers and Editors
