Engineering Manager, Platform (Storage)

5+ years of hands-on technical management experience leading engineering teams. Experience overseeing platform, infrastructure, or storage-focused engineering work. Demonstrated experience growing and developing engineers at all levels. Strong technical understanding of modern infrastructure practices, including IaC tooling such as Terraform. Experience coordinating multi-team or cross-functional engineering initiatives. Strong technical depth and the ability to engage in detailed discussions about architectural tradeoffs. A values-driven mindset aligned with dbt Labs’ mission and operating principles. Worked asynchronously as part of a fully remote, distributed team.

Lead, support, and grow a team of 6-8 distributed platform engineers. Coach, mentor, and develop engineers. Own the reliability, scalability, and availability of storage services. Ensure Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles are embedded. Partner with product, architecture, and other engineering teams. Guide the evolution of storage platform (PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc.). Drive high-quality execution through communication, incident response, and technical decision-making. Hold regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and feedback conversations. Actively participate in hiring. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-trust engineering culture.
