Medical Coder II/III

Current AHIMA or AAPC coding credential 3+ (level II) or 5+ years (level III) of experience 3-5 (level II) or 5+ years (level III) of coding and auditing experience Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, and 2023 E/M guidelines Experience in Professional hospital coding (Surgery, Endoscopy, Hospitalist, Cardiology, Emergency) Demonstrated ability to interpret clinical documentation and identify gaps Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to translate complex coding guidelines Strong organizational and detail-oriented approach Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and creativity Ability to thrive under time constraints Team-oriented approach

Serve as Subject Matter Expert on medical coding and billing. Review and validate model-generated CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and E&M codes. Perform high-quality coding and auditing on encounters. Ensure documentation supports coding decisions per guidelines. Identify missed codes, incorrect leveling, modifier errors, and insufficient documentation. Analyze and document customer coding practices and workflows. Share CodaMetrix best practices for coding automation. Present audit results to customer stakeholders. Assist manager with Coding Quality Assessment projects. Drive coding quality and consistency using CodaMetrix standards. Provide feedback on model training and data annotation. Improve evaluation and training materials. Share knowledge to build internal competencies. Provide expert guidance on coding and billing questions. Stay up-to-date with coding and billing changes. Uphold legal and ethical requirements. Explain model decisions, error analyses, and coding rationales to clients. Support client understanding of coding outputs. Prepare written summaries of coding patterns or documentation issues. Represent coding accuracy in client conversations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address client needs.
