Senior Data Engineer I (Postgres DBA)

5+ years of related experience working in data teams 3+ years managing production PostgreSQL instances 3+ years of related data engineering experience Substantial SQL experience Scripting proficiency in Python or equivalent Strong collaboration skills A strong sense of customer service and empathy Experience with Airflow, AWS, Snowflake, Hevo, and DBT strongly preferred Experience with containerization technologies and CI/CD tools Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, EventStoreDB, and MySQL Understanding of Domain Driven Design and Data Vault methodologies

Administering and architecting PostgreSQL Databases in AWS RDS Provisioning new database instances and updating RDS configurations with CI/CD tooling Enforcing corporate data security and privacy standards in PostgreSQL High Availability and Disaster Recovery Planning, Drills, and Execution Performance tuning and analysis Data-related monitoring & alerting in Datadog and Cloudwatch User support, Documentation, & Audit support Tool evaluation and testing Capacity planning and budgeting assistance On-call Rotation for Production Support of all Database and ETL Systems Conducting regular tests of the RDS (Postgres) disaster recovery plan Architecting and supporting deployment of complex workloads Automating common database administration tasks Developing and training team members on SOPs Using Apache Airflow, Hevo, dbt, and Snowflake to make data available Developing and documenting audits and controls for data quality Supporting and refining internal BI and Data Warehouse environments Collaborating with development & internal business teams for data integrations Operating in partnership with the platform (DevOps) team Contributing energy and opinions to the data engineering team Participating in the hiring process for technology candidates Promoting a culture of testing and data quality improvement Architecting ETL solutions for moving large data quantities Contributing to and leading solutioning sessions Participating in and leading data modeling and schema design
