Commitment to user privacy and the cypherpunk ethos. Confidence in working internationally across different contexts and time zones. Experience with open-source software development. Experience overseeing the security aspects of implementing protocols to detailed specifications. Willingness to learn about cryptographic issues is essential. Hands-on experience with developing secure and reliable code in modern programming languages (e.g., Rust, Swift, Kotlin, Go). Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work to deadlines and hold oneself accountable. Excellent leadership skills. Ability to make crucial, informed decisions under pressure.

Maintain and improve security and resilience of ECC and Zcash's protocols and software. Administer and improve the security incident response process. Communicate security flaws and mitigations to the Zcash and wider cryptocurrency communities. Build and maintain relationships with other projects sharing Zcash technology. Create and manage relationships with external providers of security assessments. Provide advice and resources to staff to secure computing devices and respond to threats. On-board and off-board new staff to relevant security procedures. Direct the maintenance and acquisition of security-relevant infrastructure, devices, and software. Document and track security policy and maintain procedures. Ensure compliance with applicable security-related regulatory requirements. Work with the Engineering Team and Q.A. lead on processes, techniques, and training to head off bugs. Collaborate with ECC’s Director of Research and Assurance on cryptographic code assurance. Prioritize security mitigations relative to other activities. Review the backlog of security issues. Develop and maintain specifications for security analysis of the Zcash protocol. Maintain awareness of developments in the wider Zcash community. Recruit and onboard new talent to security-focused roles.
