- Licenses/Certifications; CCS, RHIT, RHIA preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in Acute Care Hospital.
- Experience with IP/OP edits and complex case mixes.
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS coding principles and guidelines.
- Familiarity with DRG Assignment, MCC/CC capture, and regulations pertaining to coding and billing.
- Proficient in EHR systems and support software such as 3M 360 and Cerner.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
- Critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
- Assign ICD10 CM Diagnosis Codes and ICD 10 PCS Procedure Codes for assigned accounts.
- Perform IP/OP edits and select principal and secondary diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Assign appropriate DRG and review medical records to determine appropriate codes.
- Demonstrate accuracy and consistency in abstracting elements as defined by the facility.
- Maintain productivity standards, tracking logs, and deadlines.
- Act as a mentor to training coders and/or new hires.
- Maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic and Official Inpatient Guidelines.
