Requirements:

• Licenses/Certifications; CCS, RHIT, RHIA preferred.
• Must have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in Acute Care Hospital.
• Experience with IP/OP edits and complex case mixes.
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS coding principles and guidelines.
• Familiarity with DRG Assignment, MCC/CC capture, and regulations pertaining to coding and billing.
• Proficient in EHR systems and support software such as 3M 360 and Cerner.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• Critical thinking skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Assign ICD10 CM Diagnosis Codes and ICD 10 PCS Procedure Codes for assigned accounts.
• Perform IP/OP edits and select principal and secondary diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Assign appropriate DRG and review medical records to determine appropriate codes.
• Demonstrate accuracy and consistency in abstracting elements as defined by the facility.
• Maintain productivity standards, tracking logs, and deadlines.
• Act as a mentor to training coders and/or new hires.
• Maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic and Official Inpatient Guidelines.
