Requirements:
  • 1 year of medical coding experience is required.
  • DoD or Veterans Administration medical coding experience is preferred.
  • Experience with MHS Genesis medical coding is preferred.
  • Educational qualifications include an associate's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or biological science, or a university certificate in medical coding, or completion of a medical training program beyond the apprentice level.
  • Must have at least one relevant professional coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA.
Responsibilities:
  • Review documentation to identify and resolve inconsistencies or discrepancies impacting coding and patient care.
  • Accurately assign Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-CM diagnoses codes based on medical records.
  • Utilize MHS Genesis systems to access patient records and assign codes for encounters.
  • Achieve and maintain hourly coding productivity and a 97% accuracy standard.
