Requirements:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3+ years coding experience in a Trauma Level 1 and Academic Teaching facility.
  • Strong understanding of physiology, medical terms, and anatomy.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including typing speed and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
  • Proficient in coding for Diagnostic Radiology, Cardiology, Emergency Department, Infusion services, Observation, and Operating Room procedures.
  • Certified in at least one coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC.
Responsibilities:
  • Assigns codes for reimbursements and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Accounts for coding and abstracting of patient encounters, including diagnostic and procedural information.
  • Analyzes medical records and identifies documentation deficiencies.
  • Reviews and verifies documentation to support existing diagnoses and procedures.
  • Identifies reportable elements and complications.
  • Communicates with physicians to clarify information through queries.
  • Maintains required productivity and quality standards.
