Requirements
- Have 7+ years of technical project or program management experience delivering complex software with product and engineering teams; transferable software engineering experience may also be considered.
- Have built or rebuilt a project management practice, including planning cadences, tooling, and standards adopted by a team.
- Have shaped project management practices for AI-native teams working with AI coding agents.
- Use AI in project management work and have built or set up AI agents, automations, or workflows with concrete results.
- Have delivered work amid continuous shipping and technical uncertainty, such as in R&D, ML/AI, infrastructure, or developer platforms.
- Have a computer science or other technical degree, or at least 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Be comfortable reading code, pull requests, and architecture documents.
- Have deep, hands-on experience with engineering trackers such as Linear, Jira, and GitHub, including designing team workflows.
- Communicate status, risk, and trade-offs clearly in writing and speech to engineers, executives, and funders.
- Preferred: experience on a fully remote, distributed team; mentoring, managing, or hiring project or program managers; or working with LLMs, AI evaluation, AI safety, or privacy-enhancing technologies.
- Preferred: early-stage startup or research lab experience building delivery processes, managing grant- or partner-funded deliverables, coordinating external pilots or integrations, or contributing to or managing open-source projects.
Responsibilities
- Own delivery of flagship initiatives from quarterly goals through milestones, dependencies, and release dates.
- Design, run, and improve project management practices for an AI-native team.
- Build and use AI agents and automations for status updates, activity summaries, risk detection, and plan maintenance.
- Set project management standards and templates, coach product and engineering leads, and develop project management skills across the team.
- Turn quarterly OKRs into dated, sequenced plans and keep them current as research results and priorities shift.
- Maintain a product roadmap on a regular review cadence that can support grant proposals and funder reports.
- Own cross-team dependencies and resolve blockers across boards, teams, and external partners.
- Manage Linear and Asana conventions and keep tool status aligned with actual work.
- Connect GitHub work to Linear issues and maintain visibility into PR review, release status, and repository ownership.
- Track milestones, cycle time, and OKR key results; report progress and flag slipping dates with trade-off options.
