Requirements
- Have extensive software development experience, including technical leadership of development squads and engineering decisions.
- Bring strong hands-on Java backend and React frontend experience across the application stack.
- Have practical experience with Docker, containerized applications, deployment processes, and Microsoft Azure workloads.
- Understand relational database modeling, performance optimization, migrations, and data integrity.
- Have experience with non-relational databases and choosing between relational and non-relational approaches.
- Have experience with messaging and event-driven technologies such as RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, or Kafka.
- Use AI-powered software development tools regularly, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, and apply appropriate human review and engineering judgment.
- Have experience integrating external APIs and designing anti-corruption layers or similar patterns for unstable external interfaces.
- Explain and defend technical decisions, trade-offs, risks, and alternatives to clients and stakeholders.
- Lead technical initiatives independently from design through implementation, adapting to ambiguity and changing priorities.
Responsibilities
- Lead architectural decisions across the platform and document key design rationales.
- Guide the development squad by setting coding standards, reviewing code, and maintaining quality expectations.
- Contribute hands-on to implementation, troubleshooting, and improvement of production software.
- Define team practices for AI development tools, including tool selection, review, and quality controls.
- Set strategies for containerization, deployment, observability, and infrastructure as code in Microsoft Azure.
- Manage external integration partnerships, anticipate dependency risks, and design resilient integration layers.
- Design and guide reliable event-driven and asynchronous workflows using messaging and queueing technologies.
- Collaborate with product owners and designers to turn product needs and technical constraints into feasible solutions.
- Guide relational and non-relational database design and technology selection.
- Mentor engineers and identify delivery, quality, and technical sustainability risks.
