Requirements

  • Have either 1+ year of experience as a Business Development Representative (BDR) or 3+ years of experience within higher education.
  • Bring experience selling or marketing a B2B product or service, or a deep operational understanding of educational institutions’ purchasing decisions.
  • Be able to articulate value clearly and initiate conversations with senior educational stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication and the ability to present a clear point of view professionally.
  • Bring business judgment and curiosity about how complex institutions operate.
  • Be comfortable challenging assumptions and engaging in respectful disagreement.
  • Assess prospect fit, readiness, and priority, focusing on relationship quality and strategic fit.
  • Adapt your approach based on market feedback and operate in ambiguity.
  • Be familiar with a CRM such as HubSpot for planning work, tracking relationships, and follow-up.
  • Use analytical instincts to assess messaging and targeting and make adjustments.
  • Have experience using AI tools for research, writing, or workflow optimization, and an interest in emerging technology in hiring and education.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability and ownership over outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Research target institutions, programs, and stakeholders to understand organizational structure, incentives, and buying dynamics.
  • Initiate outbound conversations by phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels.
  • Lead early conversations to diagnose institutional readiness, outcome alignment, and fit.
  • Develop, test, and refine messaging for different buyer personas.
  • Challenge prospects respectfully when their current approach is unlikely to drive employment outcomes.
  • Disqualify misaligned prospects and nurture a focused book of prospects with thoughtful follow-up.
  • Run structured outreach experiments and analyze results to apply learnings.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records to support prioritization, follow-up, and learning.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to share market feedback and improve market engagement.
  • Stay informed on hiring, higher education, and AI trends.
