Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
- Bring deep PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations on live systems with real data.
- Have strong backend skills in Go, Node.js, Python, Java, or a similar language.
- Be able to build internal tooling with React or a comparable frontend framework.
- Have experience designing and maintaining customer-facing APIs, including versioning and compatibility.
- Have hands-on cloud experience; AWS is preferred, including storage, IAM, and encryption primitives.
- Have experience handling sensitive or regulated data with access control, retention, and deletion requirements.
- Apply sound judgment to correctness, idempotency, safe retries, failure handling, and failure modes under load.
- Communicate clearly and exercise good judgment in a remote, cross-functional team.
Responsibilities
- Own Postgres schema design, migrations, indexing, query performance, connection management, and database operational health.
- Design data models that enforce tenant isolation and data classification.
- Run live-system migrations without downtime or data loss.
- Implement and verify retention, deletion, and data minimization across derived data, replicas, caches, and backups.
- Build access controls, audit logging, and system-generated evidence for compliance obligations.
- Partner with security and GRC to translate contractual and regulatory commitments into technical controls.
- Design and extend region-aware routing, storage, replication, and failover, enforcing data residency.
- Design public APIs and own versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility.
- Build API authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and idempotency behavior.
- Operate and debug platform systems, build internal tooling and admin surfaces, and improve reliability, observability, testing, and deployment.
