Requirements

  • Bring 5+ years of hands-on experience configuring Workday, including business processes, reporting, security, integrations, and related tools.
  • Have payroll application design and implementation experience in a rapidly scaling organization.
  • Have deep knowledge of Payroll and Absence Management processes.
  • Be able to identify manual, repetitive, error-prone, or low-value work and translate it into scalable automation, workflow, analytics, or AI-enabled improvements.
  • Be able to turn complex and ambiguous business needs into clear requirements, user stories, technical specifications, test plans, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Have experience with Agile delivery methods, demand management, project planning, and change adoption.
  • Understand enterprise data management, security, privacy, auditability, and compliance considerations for employee and payroll data.
  • Be able to apply appropriate controls and human review to automated or AI-supported processes.
  • Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills and be able to build partnerships across Payroll, Finance, Total Rewards, and IT.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain project timelines, milestones, and dependency maps, and develop RACI matrices to clarify stakeholder ownership.
  • Facilitate status meetings, track action items, maintain project artifacts, and surface risks, blockers, and scope changes to leadership.
  • Work with Payroll, Finance, and Total Rewards teams to understand business needs, pain points, and desired outcomes.
  • Document business requirements, create user stories and use cases, and prioritize requests based on business impact, delivery effort, ROI, and compliance.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, considering standard Workday configuration and, when needed, customizations or enhancements.
  • Coordinate with IT to develop, test, and deploy solutions, and with business teams to test outcomes.
  • Prioritize demand, create project plans, and monitor and communicate progress through the project lifecycle.
  • Explain technical capabilities to business stakeholders and translate business requirements for technical teams.
  • Keep up with Workday features and trends and recommend potential system enhancements.
