Requirements
- Have 5+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience building and shipping meaningful production software.
- Bring hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
- Have backend development experience with Python and familiarity with Django or another modern backend framework, and be able and willing to work extensively with Django.
- Have experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs and software integrations.
- Have experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, and query performance.
- Understand frontend architecture, component design, state management, data fetching, performance optimization, and accessibility.
- Have experience writing automated tests and debugging across frontend, backend, and database layers.
- Be proficient with Git in a collaborative software development environment.
- Have hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and agentic workflows to implement, debug, test, and ship production software.
- Bring attention to detail, a commitment to quality before release, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small team.
- Take ownership of work, make sound technical decisions, and operate effectively without requiring a management or formal technical leadership title.
- Bonus: experience with Capacitor, React Native, Expo, Ionic, Progressive Web Apps, or other hybrid mobile development workflows.
- Plus: familiarity with mobile-first design, design systems, component libraries, Docker, AWS, or CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Build and enhance full stack features using React, TypeScript, React Query, CSS Modules, Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.
- Create responsive, accessible interfaces for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Own features from technical planning and implementation through QA, release, and iteration.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services, REST APIs, and third-party integrations.
- Create and maintain database models, migrations, queries, and related data structures.
- Implement application logic, data validation, authentication, and permissions across frontend and backend systems.
- Write and maintain automated tests, investigate issues across application layers, and implement fixes that prevent regressions.
- Improve application architecture, performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Develop AI-assisted workflows for development, debugging, prototyping, testing, documentation, and automation; review generated code for quality and security.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, testing, knowledge-sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.
