Requirements
- Have 6+ years of experience in sales compensation, FP&A, or commercial finance at a technology company.
- Have hands-on administration experience with an incentive compensation system such as Everstage, Spiff, Xactly, CaptivateIQ, or similar.
- Have experience running the sales compensation function independently.
- Have managed a variable compensation budget and reported it to a CFO or executive team.
- Have made analysis-backed plan-design recommendations adopted by leadership.
- Have personally run monthly payout cycles and reconciled payouts to the plan, payroll, and ledger.
- Be able to meet fixed close, approval, and payroll dates using a tracked checklist.
- Have strong Excel or Google Sheets modeling skills, including compensation cost, attainment scenarios, and plan-change effects.
- Be able to present to executives in a few slides or a one-page memo and communicate directly with sellers about pay decisions.
- Exercise discretion with pay data.
- Nice to have: Everstage experience, Salesforce reporting, and HR system integrations.
- Nice to have: experience with multi-region plans, currencies and local variations, commercial and government sales teams, or compensation-process audit readiness.
Responsibilities
- Forecast the variable compensation budget, track it against plan each month, and report it to the CFO and CHRO.
- Recommend plan changes to the Commissions Committee, CFO, and CHRO using analysis of attainment, cost, and seller behavior.
- Model the cost and effect of proposed plan changes, including accelerators, caps, SPIFFs, quota changes, and crediting changes.
- Run the monthly commissions cycle in Everstage, including crediting, calculation, approvals, payroll files, and Finance accruals.
- Reconcile payouts to the plan, payroll, and ledger before release.
- Configure Everstage plans and maintain changes for hires, proration, SPIFFs, accelerators, kickers, win-backs, and renewal baselines.
- Document Commissions Committee rulings and apply them consistently; resolve seller and manager pay questions and disputes.
- Launch annual plans by preparing plan documents and quota letters with Sales Operations and configuring Everstage for January 1.
- Maintain plan policies, rulings, version history, attainment dashboards, and accurate data between Salesforce, the HR system, and Everstage.
- Automate repeat steps and use AI tools to check calculations and answer routine questions.
