Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of back-end experience.
- Have a track record of delivering significant products or core capabilities across multiple teams.
- Bring deep experience designing and operating distributed systems, enterprise messaging systems, and microservices at scale.
- Have expertise with modern web standards and API technologies, including REST and GraphQL.
- Understand schema design, evolution, and versioning across many consumers.
- Have experience owning business-critical production services, leading incident response, and driving long-term reliability improvements.
- Bring strong experience with relational databases and alternative data stores, including data modeling and migrations at scale.
- Demonstrate the ability to mentor engineers and multiply team effectiveness.
- Pricing, tax, payments, or other correctness-critical commerce systems experience is a nice to have.
Responsibilities
- Align the pricing engine’s technical vision and roadmap with company strategy and expansion into new verticals.
- Lead the design and delivery of significant products and core capabilities spanning multiple teams.
- Serve as the pricing domain expert and partner with teams whose products affect order pricing.
- Drive architectural decisions for correctness, performance, and scale; author and review technical designs.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and develop future technical leaders.
- Identify gaps in tooling, testing, and delivery practices and lead improvements.
- Set operational standards for observability, alerting, incident response, and learning from incidents.
- Partner with Product, QA, and engineering leadership to shape priorities and turn ambiguous problems into executable plans.
- Champion effective use of AI-assisted development across the team.
