Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of back-end experience in Java, Kotlin, or another object-oriented language.
- Demonstrate proficiency with modern API design, including TypeScript, REST, and GraphQL.
- Have experience with relational databases or alternative data stores such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
- Design high-level technical solutions while remaining connected to code-level execution and system performance.
- Demonstrate technical leadership, including driving cross-team alignment and influencing engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
- Build partnerships across engineering, product, customer success, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain a high bar for the quality of team deliverables.
- Apply customer empathy to improve user experience, technical solutions, and products.
Responsibilities
- Lead deep technical initiatives to increase Toast’s consumer footprint and employee engagement within restaurants.
- Design solutions that anticipate and accommodate future needs while considering tradeoffs.
- Participate in architectural discussions and influence the technical roadmap.
- Collaborate with Design, Product, and Engineering to develop robust, scalable full-stack software applications.
- Champion engineering excellence and maintain a high bar for the team’s deliverables.
- Use AI tools to enhance development workflows, improve velocity, and help shape what the team builds and how it builds it.
