Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Two years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, payroll, or a related administrative role preferred.
- Working knowledge of employee benefit programs and applicable requirements, including HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, and Section 125 plans, preferred.
- Experience using HR, payroll, benefits administration, or carrier systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to analyze detailed information, maintain accurate records, manage competing deadlines, and follow issues through resolution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and commitment to confidentiality and service.
- Ability to collaborate with employees, HR partners, vendors, and carriers.
- Occasional travel may be required; schedule flexibility may be necessary during open enrollment, audits, acquisitions, and other business-critical periods.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate new-hire benefit enrollment, qualifying life-event changes, and benefit terminations.
- Respond to employee questions about eligibility, coverage, enrollment, deductions, claims navigation, and benefit resources.
- Maintain accurate benefit records across HR, benefits administration, payroll, and carrier systems.
- Review enrollment and eligibility data, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate corrections.
- Support open enrollment, including system configuration, employee communications, enrollment tracking, and post-enrollment audits.
- Assist with carrier invoice and eligibility-file reconciliation and coordinate resolution of variances.
- Support benefit administration and leave-related benefit continuation, premium collection, and return-to-work updates.
- Assist with required notices, reporting, audits, and record retention related to benefit laws and plan requirements.
- Prepare routine benefits reports and coordinate with brokers, consultants, administrators, and carriers to resolve service issues.
- Support benefits communications, employee education sessions, and other HR initiatives while protecting confidential information.
