Requirements
- Have 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time at staff or principal level working on large-scale systems.
- Bring deep expertise designing, operating, and debugging production distributed systems that ingest and process high-volume time-series or event data.
- Have experience with alerting, anomaly detection, and failure isolation.
- Have hands-on experience taking LLM-based systems to production and maintaining them.
- Understand context and tool design, evaluation against real outcomes, and cost and latency management for LLM systems.
- Be able to implement guardrails when model output triggers real actions.
- Be strongly proficient in at least one backend language used at scale, such as Java, Go, or Scala.
- Be fluent with event streaming and cloud infrastructure, including Kafka, AWS, and Kubernetes.
- Communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly in writing and influence peers through design review.
- Experience with telecommunications, messaging, or voice systems is desired.
- Experience with active network testing, monitoring, or quality-of-service measurement is desired.
- Experience with agentic systems acting on live infrastructure and their evaluation practices is desired.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver major components of the carrier test and observability platform for active voice and messaging testing, quality scoring, and global test coverage.
- Build high-throughput data and alerting systems that turn data into actionable signals for operations teams.
- Extend and harden production LLM systems for automated carrier troubleshooting, expanding the issues they can resolve without human intervention.
- Own evaluation, observability, and guardrails for safe autonomous action by LLM systems.
- Diagnose cross-boundary failures where test results, carrier behavior, and platform telemetry disagree.
- Establish observability that distinguishes those failure cases.
- Contribute to technical design and review across the team.
- Mentor engineers and help shape written standards.
