Requirements
- Have substantial experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
- Have experience conducting performance evaluations and supporting career development.
- Have a background building and operating production services with high availability and performance targets.
- Have expertise managing on-call rotations and incident response.
- Be able to independently evaluate complex technical tradeoffs in design discussions.
- Have experience developing in Go.
- Be able to give and process constructive feedback and work independently.
- Be flexible in a dynamic startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and career development for software engineers.
- Give technical direction and help engineers develop their technical leadership capabilities.
- Hire, nurture, and oversee a team of engineers.
- Lead a team responsible for managing a critical production service, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call operations.
- Moderate design discussions and foster feedback with candor and kindness.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, designers, and other interdisciplinary teams to complete complex projects.
- Drive planning across immediate tactical needs and long-term strategic direction.
- Contribute to engineering culture and develop processes as the organization grows.
