Requirements
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in philanthropy, including significant experience in a senior leadership position.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams, including experience managing senior-level professionals.
- Significant experience advising philanthropists, family foundations, and other philanthropic institutions on complex strategic questions.
- Experience contributing to or leading business development initiatives, including relationship cultivation, proposal development, and converting opportunities into engagements.
- Strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape and the ability to translate emerging trends, research, and ideas into practical guidance.
- Strong operational and financial acumen, including experience with budgets, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in client engagements and organizational priorities.
- Strong judgment, adaptability, curiosity, and the ability to navigate complex and evolving environments.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred; an advanced degree or relevant professional certifications is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic day-to-day leadership for the Philanthropic Advising department, creating a cohesive, connected, high-performing, and supportive team environment.
- Directly supervise and develop team members, including senior professionals, through coaching, feedback, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities.
- Manage a select portfolio of philanthropic clients, building trusted relationships with individuals, families, foundations, and other institutions.
- Lead selected client engagements and provide strategic counsel on philanthropic strategy, program development, and opportunities for impact.
- Contribute to business growth by developing and advancing a strong pipeline of prospective engagements.
- Identify emerging needs and opportunities across the philanthropic landscape and help evolve advising approaches, processes, and capabilities accordingly.
