Requirements
- 8+ years of directly relevant experience in government affairs or public policy.
- Track record of building or growing a government affairs program or line of effort.
- Experience developing and shepherding regulations, standards, or policy strategy through to an outcome.
- Experience engaging with senior government officials.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical subject matter for policy audiences.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity with minimal guidance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Degree and/or equivalent years of experience in the field.
- Based in Europe and able to travel frequently across the region.
- Fluency in one or more European languages in addition to English is preferred.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity regulatory bodies (ENISA, CEN-CENELEC, ETSI) is preferred.
- Familiarity with CRA conformity assessment frameworks is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Set and own Chainguard’s European policy strategy including priorities, positions, and target institutions.
- Engage with government bodies, regulators, and standards organizations such as the European Commission, European Parliament, ENISA, CEN-CENELEC, and ETSI.
- Represent the company in industry coalitions and trade associations to leverage influence.
- Forecast and analyze legislative developments relevant to cybersecurity and software supply chain security.
- Draft policy positions, consultation responses, and formal submissions.
- Translate complex technical subject matter for policy audiences and communicate policy implications to internal stakeholders.
- Establish processes, intelligence flows, and relationships to build a repeatable government affairs function.
