  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including the ability to meet rigorous coding and system design standards.
  • Broad security expertise spanning product security, infrastructure security, and corporate/IT security.
  • Generalist mindset with the ability and willingness to work across multiple security domains.
  • Experience working in an early-stage startup environment, ideally as one of the first dedicated security engineers or hires.
  • Strong builder mentality and comfort operating without a fixed roadmap, established processes, or extensive product management support.
  • Ability to independently identify problems, determine practical solutions, and implement fixes directly.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, authentication, authorization, permissions, secrets management, and secure systems design.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers, researchers, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Computer Science degree from a highly regarded institution or an equivalent STEM background.

Responsibilities

  • Own security engineering initiatives across the organization, spanning product, infrastructure, corporate systems, and IT environments.
  • Identify and directly resolve authentication and authorization vulnerabilities and weaknesses across the platform.
  • Improve the management, protection, and lifecycle of keys, credentials, and secrets across projects and systems.
  • Harden internal tooling and safely integrate off-band tools created by other engineering teams into the broader platform.
  • Refactor permissioning systems and reduce the exposure of sensitive capabilities within administrative systems.
  • Contribute directly to core backend engineering initiatives alongside the broader engineering team.
  • Lead and execute security reviews to identify risks and implement practical remediation strategies.
  • Participate in incident response activities and help strengthen security processes and tooling based on lessons learned.
  • Partner closely with engineers and technical stakeholders to embed security into systems and development practices.
