Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience.
Deep expertise in system architecture, data modeling, web technologies, and API design.
Demonstrated track record of defining technical standards adopted across multiple teams.
Experience framing and solving ambiguous technical problems at a multi-team scale.
Expertise across multiple languages, frameworks, and tech stacks.
Experience using and establishing norms for AI coding tools.
Experience with Agile software development models (Scrum, XP, TDD, or BDD).
Experience with cloud infrastructure and IaC tooling.
Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience across team boundaries.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

Craft new features that improve accessibility and usability of government services.
Solve ambiguous, discipline-wide technical problems weighing tradeoffs in speed, maintainability, and feasibility.
Own architecture and data-modeling decisions across multiple services or teams.
Engineer durable, reusable capabilities like shared services, libraries, and AI-enabled components.
Mentor Staff and Senior Software Engineers on technical judgment and engineering practices.
Set and document technical direction, standards, and reference architectures for your domain.
Partner with cross-functional leadership to translate technology, policy, and organizational trends into strategy.
Explore and evaluate emerging technologies and engineering approaches to inform scaling decisions.
