Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in system architecture, data modeling, web technologies, and API design.
- Demonstrated track record of defining technical standards adopted across multiple teams.
- Experience framing and solving ambiguous technical problems at a multi-team scale.
- Expertise across multiple languages, frameworks, and tech stacks.
- Experience using and establishing norms for AI coding tools.
- Experience with Agile software development models (Scrum, XP, TDD, or BDD).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and IaC tooling.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience across team boundaries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
- Craft new features that improve accessibility and usability of government services.
- Solve ambiguous, discipline-wide technical problems weighing tradeoffs in speed, maintainability, and feasibility.
- Own architecture and data-modeling decisions across multiple services or teams.
- Engineer durable, reusable capabilities like shared services, libraries, and AI-enabled components.
- Mentor Staff and Senior Software Engineers on technical judgment and engineering practices.
- Set and document technical direction, standards, and reference architectures for your domain.
- Partner with cross-functional leadership to translate technology, policy, and organizational trends into strategy.
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies and engineering approaches to inform scaling decisions.
