How We Work

Code for America operates as a remote-first organization, with employees across the U.S. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Internal meetings are scheduled between 10 AM and 3 PM PT to ensure collaborative hours for all time zones. The culture fosters collaboration, continuous learning, and mutual respect. Engineering at Code for America

Engineers at Code for America tackle challenges that directly improve public services. They build user-centered products for critical areas like the social safety net and criminal justice. You will work with backend systems, data infrastructure, and emerging AI technologies like LLMs, agentic orchestration, and RAG. The focus is on implementing modular, reusable solutions that overcome data quality issues and integrate seamlessly into existing government workflows.
