Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience.
- 7-8+ years of progressive, hands-on, multi-state and multi-entity payroll experience.
- Admin-level expertise with modern HRIS platforms (Rippling preferred).
- Direct experience leading system implementations or transitioning away from a PEO.
- Subject matter expertise in payroll tax compliance, filings, and remittances.
- Strong experience with benefits administration payroll integration (401(k), health/welfare).
- Experience implementing and maintaining internal controls and supporting audits.
- Previous people-management experience or clear readiness to lead a direct report.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with complex payroll and ledger data.
- CPP certification is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end payroll operations across two legal entities, processing four payroll cycles per month.
- Serve as the internal owner of the PEO-to-Rippling transition, ensuring a compliant cutover and data migration.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax filings and payments across all applicable jurisdictions.
- Oversee processing of benefits-related payments and deductions including 401(k) and health premiums.
- Maintain payroll system configuration, security, and workflows within Rippling.
- Establish internal controls, segregation-of-duties, and documented procedures.
- Partner with Accounting for payroll reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close.
- Hire, onboard, and manage a future Payroll Coordinator/Specialist.
