Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in event strategy, event management, or a related field.
- Experience leading large-scale, high-profile events with 500+ attendees.
- Experience designing event content including agendas, session formats, and speaker lineups for a policy- or issue-driven audience.
- Demonstrated track record of using technology and process design to improve event efficiency and scalability.
- Proven people-management experience with the ability to build and grow a high-performing team.
- Strong budget management and vendor negotiation skills.
- Exceptional project management skills with ability to manage multiple complex timelines.
- Willingness to travel regularly for site visits and on-site event execution (roughly 20% travel).
- Passion for hospitality and creating memorable experiences.
- Experience designing and executing donor cultivation events (ideal).
- Familiarity with the state-based think tank movement or nonprofit/association event work (plus).
Responsibilities
- Oversee overall strategy, planning, and execution for SPN's events, including our 1,500+ person Annual Meeting.
- Drive content planning and programming, collaborating with leadership to build agendas and curate speakers.
- Design systems and processes to scale the event portfolio while maintaining a warm attendee experience.
- Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with vendors, sponsors, and partners.
- Hire, mentor, and coach members of the four-person events team.
- Oversee event sponsorship strategy and execution to meet revenue goals.
- Ensure brand consistency across speakers, content, and event logistics.
- Develop and track event budgets to execute high-quality events cost-effectively.
