Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Big 4 (or equivalent top-tier public accounting) foundation.
- Deep US GAAP mastery, with strength in subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606).
- Proven experience scaling an accounting function that was already running.
- Demonstrated history of successful external audits and maintaining audit-ready books.
- Proven track record of deploying accounting automation or AI with measurable results.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing through managers or leads.
- Effective communication skills for partnering with senior cross-functional stakeholders.
- CPA license (active or inactive) is a plus.
- Experience with internal controls, SOX-readiness, M&A, or deal accounting is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly and quarterly close, GL, AP/AR, payroll, and account reconciliations.
- Own revenue accounting and technical accounting authority for subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606).
- Author technical accounting position memos on contract modifications, SSP allocation, and variable consideration.
- Manage equity compensation accounting (ASC 718) including grant accuracy and 409A timing.
- Manage and scale an accounting team of ~7 across multiple functions.
- Build a control framework for a global, remote-first, private company.
- Manage the accounting systems roadmap including NetSuite, Stripe, Metronome, Ramp, Avalara, and FloQast.
- Coordinate external audits, tax compliance, and statutory accounting for international entities.
