Requirements
- 8+ years of backend development building reliable, scalable, fault-tolerant systems.
- Proven experience designing and shipping external or public product APIs, including contracts, versioning, and authentication.
- Deep understanding of service boundaries and system design.
- Comfort working in a modern frontend codebase (React).
- Track record of driving complex, ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives to completion.
- Experience rolling out or deprecating major systems safely at scale.
- Strong written design communication skills.
- Demonstrated mentorship experience.
- Openness to using AI tools to amplify development efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and rollout strategy for critical platform services, from initial design through large-scale rollout and migration.
- Set the technical bar for how we design, publish, and maintain customer-facing APIs while owning security, reliability, and developer experience.
- Stitch together services across the platform, designing clear service boundaries and partnering with data-platform teams.
- Raise the written design bar by driving RFCs and decision records.
- Act as a force multiplier by mentoring engineers, expanding review capacity, and partnering with the Engineering Manager on team health.
- Build using TypeScript and Node.js on the backend and contribute to React frontend experiences.
