Requirements
- 5+ years of professional work experience, with at least 2 years of HR experience in multi-state operations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment fundamentals and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with I-9 verification, unemployment claims, wage garnishments, and leave administration.
- Proficiency with Paychex or a comparable HRIS platform for record management and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professional judgment.
- Strong ownership mentality with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
- Experience supporting contractor workforces is preferred.
- Knowledge of employee benefits (health, dental, vision, 401(k)) is preferred.
- Notary Public commission or willingness to obtain one is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Administer employee leave programs, including tracking usage, managing documentation, and processing approvals.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding activities for employees and contractors.
- Own compliant I-9 verification, background check workflows, and documentation.
- Support state and federal employment filings like ACA, EEO-1, and Form 5500.
- Maintain HR records and troubleshoot issues within Paychex or similar HRIS platforms.
- Assist with multi-state contractor classification processes and garnishment orders.
- Create and maintain internal HR documentation and process guides.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for routine employee inquiries and sensitive matters.
