Requirements
- 4–7 years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, preferably in cloud-based production environments.
- Strong production experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon RDS.
- Proven expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, query optimization, database troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong understanding of backup and recovery strategies, high availability, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with database security, user administration, access controls, and IAM integration.
- Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of relational database design and data modeling.
- Programming and automation experience using Python and shell scripting.
- Working knowledge of AWS services such as CloudWatch, Lambda, S3, Systems Manager, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
- Understanding of modern persistence architectures and event-driven data flows, including message brokers and caching technologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and participate in production on-call support.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of PostgreSQL running on AWS Aurora across multiple accounts, environments, and production workloads.
- Own database configuration, provisioning, parameter tuning, deployments, upgrades, patches, and version migrations using cloud-native strategies.
- Monitor database health, capacity, availability, and performance using tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Performance Insights, AppDynamics, and Grafana.
- Operate PostgreSQL as a system of record within an event-driven architecture and collaborate with engineering teams on data flows.
- Design, test, and document backup, recovery, high-availability, and disaster-recovery strategies.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and production support, including participation in an on-call rotation.
- Identify repetitive manual activities and proactively replace them with reliable, scalable automation.
