Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience building and operating backend software services.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience designing scalable backend features, APIs, and REST-based services.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Advanced software engineering experience with at least one backend programming language (Python, Java, PHP, or Ruby).
- Experience working with cloud platforms and modern infrastructure (AWS and/or GCP).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, product, and analytics teams.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking ownership, and making sound technical decisions independently.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services supporting customer experiences and third-party device integrations.
- Build scalable features and APIs that enable energy-saving automation and reliable interactions across connected residential devices.
- Serve as the technical owner for critical product experience flows, taking responsibility for design, implementation, reliability, and ongoing improvement.
- Partner closely with Product, Analytics, and Engineering teams to translate customer and business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs with a strong focus on scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Implement API monitoring and observability capabilities and proactively identify and address service-performance issues.
- Help evolve backend architecture and engineering practices as the platform and customer base grow.
