Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
- Extensive track record of developing highly available distributed systems.
- Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in designing services with clear API boundaries, high reliability, and effective handling of consistency, idempotency, and failure modes.
- Experience in payments, commerce, ledger, or financially-sensitive domains.
- Proven success delivering major features or system components through defined execution plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale and align it with critical, business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are managed.
- Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes.
- Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage, playbooks, testing, and on-call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
