Requirements
- 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including significant ownership of production billing, payments, or metering systems.
- Hands-on experience with payment infrastructure, subscription management, webhooks, usage-based billing, and reconciliation processes.
- Strong proficiency in backend development, with Go or Java experience considered a strong advantage.
- Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Deep understanding of reliability, consistency, performance, and failure handling in distributed environments.
- Product-oriented mindset with the ability to connect technical decisions to customer trust and business outcomes.
- Staff-level engineering ownership, including ability to influence technical direction and elevate engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve metering infrastructure by designing, developing, and improving systems that accurately process billable events.
- Expand and optimize payment platform integrations, including subscription management, usage reporting, invoice workflows, and webhooks.
- Build and maintain cloud marketplace integrations managing data flows between billing systems and entitlement platforms.
- Develop customer-facing usage dashboards and forecasting capabilities for visibility into consumption and spending.
- Improve billing monitoring, alerts, and notifications to proactively identify anomalies and usage patterns.
- Define architectural patterns, engineering standards, and testing approaches to improve system reliability.
- Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and design discussions.
