Requirements
- 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Proven ownership of a production billing or metering system.
- Deep, hands-on experience with Stripe (webhooks, usage records, subscription state machines, reconciliation).
- Strong proficiency in Go or Java.
- Experience designing distributed systems at scale with a focus on reliability and consistency.
- Product mindset with an understanding of how billing impacts customer trust.
- Staff-level ownership capabilities, including identifying systemic issues and improving team performance.
- Experience with cloud marketplace billing (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and observability ecosystems is a plus.
- Background in usage-based or consumption pricing models at a SaaS company is a plus.
- Experience in high-growth, venture-backed startup environments is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and harden metering pipelines to ensure accurate billable event tracking.
- Extend Stripe subscription management, usage record reporting, and invoice lifecycle handling.
- Manage data flows between the billing core and cloud marketplace entitlement systems (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Develop customer-facing usage dashboards and cost forecasting tools.
- Implement billing alerting systems to identify anomalies and budget spikes.
- Establish architectural design and testing standards for the team.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and design coaching.
