Requirements
- Strong Go experience, or deep experience building/operating production backend systems in Rust, Java, or C++.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and React for frontend development.
- Operational mindset with experience owning production services and carrying a pager.
- Systems-thinking ability to reason about component interactions, failure modes, cost, and operational behavior.
- Ability to break complex problems into incremental, pragmatic deliverables.
- Experience with a user-centered software development process.
- Experience using AI tools within an engineering workflow.
- Ability to communicate design decisions clearly in written and spoken English.
- Collaborative, friendly, and respectful approach to working in a team.
- Experience designing or operating multi-tenant SaaS systems (bonus).
- Experience with Kubernetes in a production environment (bonus).
- Familiarity with k6, Playwright, or browser automation (bonus).
Responsibilities
- Own features end-to-end across the stack, from API and data model design in Go to user-facing workflows in TypeScript/React.
- Design and evolve systems, including architectural decisions on scheduling, probe lifecycle, telemetry ingestion, and API design.
- Build cross-product and AI-assisted workflows that connect Synthetic Monitoring to the wider Grafana Cloud platform.
- Make the product operable at enterprise scale by building governance and organization primitives.
- Break down complex, ambiguous problems into incremental deliverables and iterate quickly.
- Ensure quality through testing, observability of your own systems, and documentation.
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation and take ownership of the services you're running.
