Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA certification.
- 12+ years progressive accounting experience for CAO or 8–12 years for Director.
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Controller, Assistant Controller, or CAO).
- Experience in the mortgage, lending, or financial services industry.
- Experience in a growth-stage or scaling organization.
- Working knowledge of FAS 91 and CECL accounting rules.
- Technical proficiency in US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP and accounting systems implementation.
- Advanced Excel and financial systems skills.
- Stable, reliable internet connection and professional remote workspace.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, and develop a scalable accounting team structure.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and career paths within the accounting organization.
- Assess current processes and execute a roadmap to modernize the general ledger and close process.
- Lead evaluation and implementation of modern accounting/ERP systems.
- Standardize and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in accordance with GAAP.
- Own the integrity and timeliness of financial statements.
- Oversee technical accounting matters including revenue recognition, FAS 91, and CECL.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate the annual audit process.
