Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with modern programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, Ruby, or C#.
- Experience designing and building ReSTful APIs and backend services.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and inter-service communication (e.g., protobufs/gRPC, ReST, NSQ).
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and take responsibility for production systems.
- Experience with cloud environments (GCP preferred).
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with observability tooling, metrics, alerts, and tracing.
- Experience with protobufs, gRPC, or Temporal is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Go (Golang) microservices.
- Drive technical architecture and contribute to long-term system health by anticipating scaling and maintenance needs.
- Collaborate cross-functional with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver high-impact features.
- Participate in system design reviews, propose and implement robust solutions, and contribute to Weave’s overall engineering strategy.
- Own the quality, reliability, and observability of your code from development to production.
- Help plan and execute projects from inception to delivery.
- Mentor peers and junior engineers by sharing knowledge and encouraging best practices.
