Requirements
- Associate degree or higher in an engineering-related discipline (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in substation Protection & Controls (P&C) design.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for production-level drawings.
- Demonstrated experience developing single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and AC/DC schematics.
- Strong understanding of high-voltage substation equipment and protection schemes.
- Ability to work independently applying sound engineering judgment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client interactions.
- Excellent organization skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with Substation Design Suite (SDS) is preferred.
- Experience with renewable energy interconnection substations is a plus.
- Experience in consulting engineering or EPC projects is preferred.
- EIT certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop protection and control design packages for renewable energy substations, including SLDs, three-line diagrams, and AC/DC schematics.
- Design collector and interconnection substation P&C systems applying appropriate protection philosophies.
- Produce high-quality AutoCAD Electrical and Substation Design Suite (SDS) drawings.
- Coordinate with power systems, physical, civil, and structural engineering teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Review technical deliverables from subcontractors and consultants for accuracy and quality.
- Support client discussions, address technical feedback, and act as a subject matter resource.
- Ensure documentation complies with industry standards and safety requirements.
- Develop work plans, manage tasks, and provide mentorship to junior team members.
