Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience in large-scale, mission-critical production environments.
- Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 / 2025 on Windows Server 2019 / 2022.
- Advanced T-SQL skills including query optimization, execution plan analysis, index design, and partitioning.
- Deep expertise in application performance tuning, specifically resolving ORM anti-patterns and N+1 queries.
- Experience architecting and supporting Always On Availability Groups and Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC).
- Strong command of Wait Statistics, Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), Extended Events, and Query Store.
- Solid experience with point-in-time database restores and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience with Windows Server administration and Active Directory / Kerberos authentication.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior team members.
- Familiarity with ITIL change, incident, and problem management processes.
Responsibilities
- Architect, install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances including 2019, 2025, and Azure SQL Database.
- Lead application performance engineering by analyzing execution plans and optimizing queries.
- Monitor performance using Extended Events, DMVs, Wait Statistics, and third-party tools.
- Design and test backup, recovery, and HA/DR strategies including Always On Availability Groups.
- Manage database security, including role-based access control and auditing.
- Oversee capacity planning, storage forecasting, and database change governance.
- Automate routine DBA tasks using PowerShell and SQL Agent.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for on-call rotations and lead incident reviews.
