Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, English, literacy, math, science, or instructional design (Master's preferred)
- 4+ years of experience in assessment development, standards alignment, or related educational role
- Advanced command of assessment design, item-writing standards, and validation methodologies
- Fluency in backwards design and its application to instructional approaches and state standards
- Experience with state summative assessment design across fixed form, benchmark, and adaptive formats
- Knowledge of blueprints, standard setting, and performance level descriptors
- Understanding of scoring logic and TEI scoring design
- Ability to collaborate with psychometricians on validity
- Proficiency in building and managing crosswalk workbooks, K to 8 correlations, and ELPS crosswalks
- Knowledge of early literacy frameworks and phonics continuums
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Proficiency with alignment, content management, and authoring platforms
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and refinement of assessment items, passages, and instructional content using a backwards design approach
- Develop CAS, assessment frameworks, and Task Model templates
- Manage multi-round passage development with vendors
- Own state list submission work including K to 8 correlations, ELPS crosswalks, and correlation CSV preparation
- Drive multi-round review and validation cycles and analyze field test data to recommend revisions
- Partner across curriculum, product, design, state strategy, and GTM teams
- Stay current on early literacy research, phonics continuums, and Universal Screener design
