Requirements

- Deep understanding of query understanding, retrieval pipelines, and candidate generation.
- Proficiency in balancing performance, accuracy, and infrastructure costs for production ML models.
- Experience working closely with machine learning researchers and data scientists.
- Ability to build and manage evaluation frameworks for model precision and accuracy.
- Strong technical aptitude for managing systems at scale and optimizing for latency.
- Capacity to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for defining roadmap strategy and orchestrating pipeline handoffs.
Responsibilities
- Define multi-quarter vision and strategy across Machine Learning & Recall and Query teams.
- Lead query intelligence including tokenization, spell correction, entity extraction, and LLM-assisted parsing.
- Advance candidate generation architecture by combining keyword search with dense embeddings and vector retrieval.
- Drive measurable improvements in search-attributed conversion, revenue per visit, and GMV.
- Partner with ML researchers and engineers to deploy SOTA models into low-latency production systems.
- Establish evaluation frameworks to measure retrieval precision against business outcomes.
- Optimize model complexity, inference latency, and compute costs.
- Orchestrate data pipelines and resolve retrieval anomalies with durable, automated solutions.
